A United States Bank.—We cannot afford to go for a "United States Bank" while it remains a political question. That we should have a nationalized currency, no sane man doubts. And this object will be attained when it ceases to be urged and opposed on party grounds. We are against a Bank, as a Whig measure, first, because no party can stand such an issue, and next, because the currency will remain deranged, as long as it is subject to political agitation. We have urged our political friends, privately and publicly, for ten years, to "cut" the Bank. We earnestly remonstrated with our friends in Congress against its extra session. We deprecated an issue with the President upon a Bank Veto. But when overruled, we kept along with our friends, who, though not always wise and practical, are ever honest and patriotic.—Albany Evening Journal.
