THE RECENT ELECTION has terminated as our readers are aware, in another failure for the want of a few votes, to re-elect Gov. Arnold. There is every reason, however, to believe that the people will put things right, at the election on the last Tuesday in next month, by electing Gov. Arnold by a handsome majority.
No man can doubt that in this state, a very large majority of the freemen are in favor of Gov. Arnold, and the other gentlemen associated with him in the ticket. The people have been most grossly deceived by the Jackson party, but they seem now to be aware of the importance of attending the polls at the next meeting.
Pennsylvania and New-York are no longer for Jackson—shall Rhode-Island then, at this late hour, become unmindful of what she owes to her own character—of what she owes to the union?
We trust not.
