The welcome which Nebraska has given to ex-President Roosevelt has been quiet in keeping with that of Colorado and Kansas.
Shortly before seven o'clock this morning the Roosevelt party reached Omaha over the Chicago and Northwestern railroad. Despite the early hour a large crowd had gathered at the station to greet the distinguished visitor. Mayor Dahlman and a citizens' reception committee of Omaha, headed by ex-Congressman John L. Kennedy were on hand to extend the official welcome.
Following breakfast Colonel Roosevelt was escorted through the gayly decorated streets and was cheered enthusiastically by the large crowds that filled the sidewalks along the route. In addition to the parade the chief feature of the day's programme was Colonel Roosevelt's address on the Panama Canal, delivered before the Omaha Commercial Club. A banquet tonight and the initiation of Colonel Roosevelt into the Ak-sar-ben conclude the Omaha programme.
At an early hour tomorrow morning the Roosevelt party will leave for Sioux Falls.
