The rate was cut from 61 cents to 59 cents.
A three cent cut in the Lincoln-Clark county redemption tax was decided upon, for the same reason, and the recommendation that the rate for this assessment be cut from 15 cents to 12 was sent to the Lincoln county commissioners.
Change Asked
By law the Lincoln county board is authorized to set the tax rate on this fund, which is for redemption of bonds dating back many years. It is expected that the Lincoln county commissioners will sanction this reduction, in view of the greatly increased evaluations in Las Vegas. The 15 cent rate had been figured tentatively on the 1928 evaluation, it was explained.
The request for this reduction of rate was wired yesterday to the Lincoln county board, with request for an early reply.
A proposed cut of the educational district number two rate from 61 cents to 52 cents was opposed by Miss Maude Frazier, principal, in behalf of the school board on grounds that such cut would leave insufficient balance to run from July 1, 1930 to December 1, 1930.
Miss Amy Hanson, deputy state superintendent of the schools of the county was present at the meeting, in the interest of the schools of the county.
Mr. Carpenter, of the Union Pacific, appeared in behalf of the railroad company.
New District Okehed
A new school district was created by the board for Blue Diamond, presumably to be opened some time this term.
Sloan school district's tax rate was increased from 39 cents to 46 cents, a seven cent raise.
Dyke's rate was cut four cents, from eleven to seven cents.
Garnet's rate was cut two cents, from 20 to 18 cents.
For Enterprise a new tax levy of 16.8 cents was created, for the purpose of retiring outstanding bonds. The regular tax rate was, however, cut from 21 to 10 cents.
Goodsprings' 13 cent tax for bond retirement was stricken out entirely, because the outstanding bonds have been paid by last year's levy.
The tax for Educational District Number one was left the same as it has been.
