SLAVE OWNERS STILL

The proposed child labor amendment to the federal constitution has already been defeated by two state legislatures—those of Georgia and Louisiana. The old cry of "state's rights" has been raised by the hypocritical exploiters, the same yowl of their fathers and grandfathers when the question of abolishing chattel slavery was before the country. Just as 60 to 80 years ago the southern politicians dictated certain governmental policies, so today a new crop of reactionists are trying to perpetuate child slavery. And they call themselves "liberal" and "progressive" at that!—Cleveland Citizen.
