The procession was formed as usual, and at ten o'clock, A. M. moved to the Baptist Meeting-House. After prayers, performed by the President, the following exercises were exhibited:

1. Salutatory Oration, on slavery of opinion, comprehending the usual address. By Paris J. Tillinghast.
2. An intermediate Oration, on the importance of historical information. By Gaius Conant.
3. A Dissertation, in Latin, on the rise and fall of empires. By Daniel Loring.
4. Dispute, on this question, "Would passive commerce be more advantageous to the United States than their present active commerce?" By Theodore A. Foster, Thomas Burges and Abiel Russel.
5. An intermediate Oration, on the influence of the passions. By John M. Bradford.

7. A Dissertation, in Greek; Union necessary to the support of republican government. By Andrew Rawson.

The degree of Bachelor of Arts was then conferred on the following young gentlemen, alumni of the College:

Tillinghast, Nathaniel Todd, Levi Tower, John Tucker, Daniel Young.
The following young gentlemen, alumni of the College, were admitted to the degree of Master of Arts:
Peter A. Alden, Horatio G. Bowen, William Collier, Joseph B. Cooke, Horace Everett, Abijah Draper, Nathan Holman, Samuel King, Charles O. Screven.
The Rev. Ebenezer Bradford, of Rowley, an alumnus of Princeton College, was admitted ad eundem in R. I. College.
The honorary degree of Master of Arts was conferred on the following gentlemen:
The Hon. Samuel Elam, Esq. of Portsmouth, (Rhode-Island) George Gibbs, jun. of Newport, the Rev. Henry Holcombe, of Savannah (Georgia) and the Rev. Stephen Gano, of Providence.
The degree of Doctor in Divinity on the following:
The Rev. Richard Furman, of Charleston, (South-Carolina) and the Rev. David Parsons, of Amherst (Massachusetts.)
Valedictory Oration, on political economy, comprehending the usual addresses. By John M'Kie.
The exercises were closed by prayers, performed by the Rev. Dr. Hitchcock.
At the annual meeting of the Corporation of the College, the following gentlemen were chosen as Trustees, viz. Mr. Thomas Arnold, in the place of Dr. Isaac Senter, deceased; William Hunter, Esq. in the place of Francis Malbone, Esq. resigned; Thomas Tillinghast, Esq. in the place of Peleg Clarke, Esq. resigned; Mr. Samuel G. Arnold, in the place of William Ruel, Esq. resigned; Col. Christopher Olney, in the place of Samuel Ward, Esq. resigned.
The following young gentlemen were elected Tutors of the College:
Calvin Park, Moses Miller, and Enos Cutler.
It is with great pleasure we now announce to the public, that Samuel Elam, Esq. has, in the course of the year past, generously given to the College eight hundred dollars, for the purpose of procuring philosophical apparatus. The numerous and liberal donations of this gentleman to literary institutions, claim the gratitude and respect of all friends to science and religion. While he gratifies the spontaneous beneficence of his own heart, he rejoices the hearts of others, and erects a pillar of fame, low as the Andes, and lasting as time. May his reward be an hundred fold in this world, and in the world to come, life everlasting.
