CLAY'S LAST LETTER ON TEXAS.

It is expected that Mr. Clay's fifth letter on the subject of annexation will be published in the Southern States about the first day of November, in which he will say, in substance, that if elected President, he will do all in his power to annex Texas immediately to the United States. This letter will not of course, "affect" his election "one way or the other" in the northern States, as it will not be seen in any but slave States until the elections are all over.

In this we are sincere. We believe that it is very probable that such a letter is already written; and in the proper hands to be published in the south at a given time.
