SAVANNAH, Ga.-(SNS)
- Collegiate and high school basketball heads for the last roundup this week with hoop-happy tournaments scheduled over the Deep South.
Huge, noise-filled, and jam-packed arenas this weekend will resound with the roar of hysterical crowds and the tumult and uproar of sweating cagers as teams write a thunderous finale to the 1950 season.
17th Annual SIAC Cage
Spectacle At Tuskegee
Institute, March 9-11
At Tuskegee Institute sixteen members of the Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference will converge on Logan Hall for the 17th
Annual Cage Extravaganza March 9, 10 and 11 in Logan Hall, Tuskegee Institute.
The Colored Intercollegiate Athletic Association will play host to eight front-running teams, March 9, 10 and 11 at Uline Arena, Washington, D. C. This will be the fifth annual tournament for the CIAA.
Morris Brown College of Atlanta, Ga, is the defending champion of the SIAC. Florida A and M College of Tallahassee, Fla, captured last year's visiting crown.
West Virginia State of Institute, W. Va., will be defending tournament champions of the CIAA. North Carolina State College of Durham, N. C. was the CIAA visitation champion.
The SIAC tournament fight is predicted to be between Florida A and M., Morris Brown, Tuskegee Institute and Alabama State. Florida A. and M. won the '50 visitation crown.
Anything can happen in the CIAA. West Virginia State, Lincoln (Pa). Virginia Union and North Carolina College could get hot and emerge victorious.
West Virginia State is virtually assured the visitation championship and is a prime favorite to cop tournament laurels.
