TURKEY AND PIE FOR 400.
William M. Fleiss Makes the Newsboys Happy at the Brace Memorial Home.
Four hundred newsboys received a substantial turkey dinner at the Brace Memorial Home, Duane street, yesterday. The dinner was given by William M. Fleiss, an importer of 47 Broadway. No tickets were issued. Every boy who came was fed as soon as there was a place for him.
Every one had as much turkey as he could eat and a whole pie all to himself. Not a few filled upon turkey and carried the pie away buttoned under their coats.
After the boys had been fed in four detachments there was still a lot of dinner left and messengers were sent out to City Hall Park and Park row that anybody big or little, with an appetite would be welcome. Only about twenty responded to the invitation. The rest had all been filled full at the other dinners all over town. A number of women poverty-stricken tenements under the shadow of the bridge came and asked for the rest of the food and got it. Mr. Fleiss and a party of friends were present during most of the dinner.
