Among the passengers of the steamer Arctic, which sailed from New York for Liverpool, England, on Saturday the 7th inst., were our townsmen Jno. Lewis Peyton, Esq., and Dr. P. C. Irvine—the former of whom has gone to take the tour of Europe, and the latter to pursue his professional studies at Paris. The Arctic took out seventy passengers—a larger number than has gone out in any single steamer for four months—and a million of dollars in specie. Mr. Peyton was made a bearer of dispatches from our Government to the U. S. Minister at London.
