Braves to Open Cage Season Friday

Forward Wall to be Problem For Coach Leo Hutchison

The forward wall has Coach Leo Hutchison of Ypsilanti High worried as his Braves go through finishing practice for the opening game of the cage season Friday night in the local gymnasium against Birmingham.

Besides Capt. Evart Moyer, one of two letter-men back from last year's team, others trying out at forward are Robert Kuster and Martin Pat O'Hara, as well as Robert Bower, the latter who was moved from guard positions. Mickey Robertson, a sophomore, whom Coach Hutchison selected from his gymnasium class, is also a possible forward.

James Miller is the varsity center.

Moyer has also alternated at guard position. Robert Moffett, guard, is the other letter-man from last season. Fred Wolter is also a guard with Richard Onan, junior transfer from Lowell, another candidate for that position. Other players completing the varsity squad are Kenneth Stroll, senior transfer from Forrest High, John Bell, transfer from Iron Mountain, and Wilbur Leonard.

A group of 10 are practicing under the direction of Martin Open, assistant coach. These will form the reserves but are always candidates for the varsity squad.

A few of the candidates for the second team are: John Wills, Arthur Herbst, Richard Powers, William Powers, Lynn McAllister, John Wynn, Michael O'Hara, George Gaudy, Bill Bowers, Jim Garfield, Ralph Bullis and Lester Pio.
