The Baltimore Federal Gazette announces that Gen. Swift intends making Baltimore his permanent residence. The same paper says: "Gen. Swift is now engaged as Chief Engineer of the Baltimore and Susquehanna Rail Road, and we understand his report upon the subject may be expected in a short time. We have not been informed of anything but the general result, which we understand, is altogether favorable to the practicability of the road with fewer difficulties and at less expense than had been anticipated from the previous examination of the country."
