Parents Visit Schools and Find Much of Interest in Work Displayed

It is to be regretted that more parents do not visit the schools of the city on Visitors Day. Yesterday the 1925 Visitors Day was held thruout all the schools of Willmar. On that day it was hoped that the schools would be crowded with visiting parents and friends. As usual, however, the number was small compared to what was hoped would come. Parents came thruout the day and visited the classes as well as viewing the display of work in the corridors.

A good number did visit the schools yesterday. Reports from all the school buildings show that quite a number of parents did call at the schools. Of these the greater number were mothers. The possible number however would have been far greater.

Those who visited the schools were well rewarded. Every teacher welcomed callers and sought to give them something of interest while in the classroom. In the corridors were found on the walls and on tables displays of work done during the year. This included the sewing department, the commercial department, the English department, manual training and the various grades. Some unique samples of work were shown. Many of them showed originality and clever ideas worked out.

It would require too much space in these columns for The Tribune to describe all the work displayed. Much of it is highly commendable and shows originality and talent.

All that can be hoped is that our parents will visit the schools and see for themselves what their children are doing. Citizens who pay taxes for the maintenance of the schools and the education of their children should feel an interest to the extent of visiting the schools at least on Visitors Day.

Refreshments were served by the Junior Class after 3:30 in the afternoon. The coffee which was served was furnished by the South Side Grocery store. Many patronized the lunch the proceeds of which will help defray the expenses of the Junior banquet and reception for the Senior Class.
