The Grand Celebration at Richmond on Friday last at the laying of the Corner Stone of the Virginia Washington Monument, is represented as having been unusually imposing. The President of the United States arrived there the day before, and was presented to the assembled Legislature.

On Friday all was cheerful and joyous, and Gen'l Taylor was received by the people most enthusiastically. In the morning he reviewed the State Cadets, and was present at the Military Dinner. He was very happy in his remarks on the occasion, and made friends of everybody who met him, by his simple, frank, manly and unostentatious manner. During the day everything passed off well, and without accidents.
