Harvest

The great scarcity of labor in this section of the State is creating increased uneasiness among our farmers as the season for harvest approaches. The wheat crop is generally good, being entirely free, thus far, from rust disaster; but how we shall harvest it is becoming a serious question. Laborers from the cities might readily obtain employment here for the next month or more; and the rates of wages that will be given them cannot fail to prove satisfactory. This is a pleasant and healthy locality, and we think, two-and-a-half or three dollars a day, with board, would be preferred by the laborer to less wages and high board in the cities.
