"We believe the Government of this country have at length determined to have recourse to more efficacious means than have hitherto been resorted to, for the purpose of terminating more speedily the absurd and harrassing strife which has now so long distracted the Peninsula, and which opposes such serious obstacles to the regeneration and improvement of countries with which so many important British interests are bound up. We are not at liberty to say more on this subject at present; but we believe the measures in contemplation will be fully adequate to effect the object to which we have alluded."
