New York, May 6.—The railroad controversy has not taken any more definite shape within a day or two, and the belief is generally expressed by railroad men that there will not be an open rupture. On the other hand some freight agents state, though no acknowledged cutting had been done, it was generally known that large special reductions were constantly made.
