INSPIRING CONVENTION OF DISCIPLES OF CHRIST

The fifty-second annual meeting of the Tidewater District convention of the Disciples of Christ was held on August 7, 8 and 9 with the Jerusalem church in King William county.

The first day was devoted to the work of the Christian Women's Board of Missions. Inspiring and encouraging reports were read by several of the leading workers and helpful talks were made by Mrs. G. W. Oliver, Mrs. F. W. Long, Mrs. Fannie Longmire, Mrs. J. O. Helsabeck, Miss Inez Fox, Miss Estelle Shackelford and others.

"How We Conducted Our Mission Band" was beautifully demonstrated by the Lanesville mission band, composed of a group of small children who had been well trained for the occasion.

Rev. E. B. Bagby delivered a very interesting appeal for ministerial relief, taking for his subject "Pensioning the Veterans." He referred to the fact that his first pastorate was with the Jerusalem church, and also touched upon many of his experiences in his labors since, all of which was highly appreciated by his many hearers.

The other two days were spent in planning, explaining and adopting a number of very important resolutions for future work for all the Christian churches in Tidewater district. Those taking a most prominent part in the discussions were B. L. Kershner, J. T. T. Hundley, J. O. Helsabeck, E. B. Motley, H. C. Combs, C. M. Watson, J. E. de Gafferelly, J. G. Holladay and C. E. Elmore.

The delegates were happily impressed at the kindness and hospitality of the King William people.
