Washington.--A marked increase of negroes to northern industrial centers is disclosed in figures compiled by the census bureau.
The shift has been largely from rural sections to urban centers. Many industrial centers in the South show a marked gain in negro population from 1920 to 1930, the chief loss being in rural communities.
In Delaware, Maryland, Michigan and Missouri the negro population increased faster than did the white. This is also true in such industrial cities as Philadelphia, Akron, Cincinnati, Indianapolis, Detroit, Kansas City, St. Louis, Baltimore and Flint, Mich.
