Full Text

A round-about rumor of Peace—Arrived this day the brig Harriot, captain Will—, 17 days from Jamaica, and 3 from Crooked Island, informs that at Crooked Island, the schooner Samuel, captain Reed, of Edenton (N. C.) arrived from Jamaica, which place he left on the 18th of September, and stated, that before he sailed, a vessel had arrived after a short passage from England, dispatched express with the intelligence of a peace being concluded between France, Spain, and Great Britain. On this intelligence, the shipping and forts at Jamaica fired a grand salute; the recent advices which have been received from England direct, render this intelligence very doubtful, almost impossible.
