A Convict Thief.--Repeated thefts and burglaries recently committed at Steilacoom, created considerable excitement and discussion from the fact that there appeared to be no one in the community against whom suspicion could be directed as the depredator. Last week the mystery was cleared up by the discovery that these depredations had all been committed by a convict under sentence to the penitentiary, who had been allowed the freedom of the town by the keeper. It has not been ascertained yet if the keeper divided the spoils with his trusted friend.
