Spokane, July 25.—Spokane enjoyed a holiday today to celebrate the favorable decision of the Interstate Commerce Commission on the intermountain freight rate cases which have been won after twenty years of persistent fighting. Whistles all over the city blew for ten minutes, and summoned citizens to an impromptu parade with thousands of people in line. Bombs and other fireworks were exploded on the route. The city hall and many offices and stores were closed to let employees join the celebration. Street dances will be held tonight, red fire will glare and leaders in the rate fight will make brief speeches.
Spokane jobbers estimate $2,000,000 annual saving will be effected for Spokane and vicinity through the new rates.
