Makes 1323 Miles, Honolulu to Midway Island in 8 Hours, 52 Minutes

MIDWAY ISLAND, August 14.

The Pan American clipper ship arrived here at 3 p.m., Honolulu time, 8:30 p.m., Eastern Standard time, yesterday, completing the flight of 1,323 miles in 8 hours and 52 minutes from Honolulu.

Officials said the plane's record indicated that a regular 9-hour schedule will be established between Honolulu and Midway Island.

The clipper cut 28 minutes from the previous record for an east to west crossing.
