FIRE!

Yesterday afternoon a fire broke out in this city in the house occupied by Daniel Timmings, Tallow chandler, on the east side of the bridge opposite Samuel Ege's stone house; it immediately communicated to the adjoining two story house, both of which were consumed—but by the great exertions of citizens in cutting away the house of David Loggan, shoe-maker, on the west, with the assistance of the engine, the fire was got under without further injury. Too much credit cannot be given to every description of our citizens, who instantly repaired from different parts of the city to the scene, and rendered every service in their power.
