CHANDLER, Aug. 26—Turning turtle twice in an attempt to miss a mud hole on the Chandler-Mesa road Sunday evening, five persons were hurt when a Ford containing several members of the Norwood family upset two miles north of town.
B. F. Norwood and family were returning home. The youngest son was driving and sought to go around one of the holes that have been washed out in the past week by irrigation water flooding the highway. The car skidded, hit the edge of the hole and turned over twice. This was about 8 o'clock.
The senior Mr. Norwood was hurt on the hip and his wife received a bad cut over the left eye. She was also badly bruised and shaken. The driver was also bruised as was the older son. The baby was thrown clear of the car and escaped without a scratch. The car pinned two down but they were soon extricated.
Drs. Jordan and Anderson were summoned at once and found that the entire party received scratches and bruises. It was a close call for all of them from serious injury.
