NEWBURYPORT SUFFERERS.

We learn that the respectable committee elected by a number of Charitable Citizens of this town to receive subscriptions for the relief of the sufferers by the fire at Newburyport, have chosen the Hon. George Cabot Chairman, and Ebenezer Stocker, Esq. Secretary. The committee meet each day, at 9 A. M. at the Branch Bank, to further this laudable purpose; and it is with great pleasure we have witnessed on the Donation List such sums annexed to individual names, as do honor to the character of our town for benevolence, & promise valuable aid to the distressed.

The Selectmen of Newburyport, have offered one thousand dollars reward, for the discovery of the infernal incendiary who caused the late dreadful fire in that town.

Praiseworthy. We learn from Newburyport, that two subscription papers, were circulated at that place on Tuesday, the one headed by Mr. Bartlet with $3000, the other by Moses Brown with $1500.

The Newburyport Herald, of Wednesday last, is entirely filled with matter relating to the dreadful fire which took place in that town on Friday night last. It is therein stated, "That upwards of 250 buildings were destroyed, most of which were stores and dwelling-houses; in which number nearly all the dry goods stores are included: four Printing-Offices, the whole number in Town: the Custom House; the Surveyor's Offices; the Post Office; two Insurance Offices; the Baptist Meeting House; 4 Attorney's Offices: four Book Stores, the loss of which is $30,000 dolls. and also the Town Library."

The Selectmen of Newburyport are authorised and appointed to receive monies and other donations for the use of the sufferers on this melancholy occasion.
