Full Text

Extract of a letter from a gentleman in Mobile to his friend in Baltimore, dated November 14.

"Great distress is caused by the fever here, which has not yet abated. There were four deaths this morning before I arrived, say 10 o'clock. The sick have heretofore been much neglected—Out of 6 doctors, one left town in Aug. with his family, one still remains sick, and four have died—two of them had wives, which are also dead; one other doctor arrived here about three weeks since from New-York, and has lost his wife. Many who left town for health, unhappily out of anxiety to get to business, returned too soon. It is hoped there will be a change soon, as it commenced raining on the 10th, which is the first since 4th September."
