Lieutenant Sylvis, of the city police force has furnished his monthly report for July. From it the following abstract is taken:
There were 127 arrests made in the month, of which 38 were for disorderly conduct, 53 for drunkenness, 3 for vagrancy, 2 for keeping houses of ill fame, 3 for loafing in such houses, 2 for prostitution, 2 for carrying concealed weapons, 1 for shooting in the city limits, 3 for loafing in the market houses, 1 for violation of the rules of the Board of Public Works, 1 for profanity, 4 for abusive language, 2 for indecent exposure, 1 for contempt of court, 1 for annoying passengers on street cars, and 1 for selling liquor on Sunday. Lieut. Sylvis made 8 arrests, Officer Dunlap 5, Helfer 9, Junkins 7, Ferguson 10, Bird 17, Reid 4, Montgomery 19, Morris 11, Frebolt 11; Barum 4, Steinbicker 7, Taylor 1, Grist 7, Linton 1, Combe 1, Carl 1, Kennedy 1, Brooks 1, Laughlin 1 and Moore 1.
Fines were assessed to the amount of $450; fines collected, $260; fines unpaid, $200; lock-up fees, $81.20; Sergeants' fees, $93.25; commitments $6.70; Clerks' fees $169.70; a total collected and turned over to the city of $610.65.
