PETTY LARCENY. -On Saturday afternoon last, a young lady calling herself Miss Cordelia Turner, (col.) entered the shoe store of Mr. Isaac DuBois, on Commerce Street, and inquired for a pair of ladies' boots. After examining a large assortment she was noticed to select a pair, which fitted her nicely, and lay them carelessly by. She then inquired for children's shoes, and while the back of the clerk was turned, she quietly slipped the large shoes, beneath her shawl. She then departed. The clerk, however, discovered the shoes, which in the hurry of concealment the poor girl had left partially exposed to view, and he immediately notified Policeman Vanzant of the theft. That public functionary at once started in pursuit, and overtaking the thief near the foot of Broad Street, arrested her further progress. She was then taken before His Honor, Mayor Dare, and by his order incarcerated within the walls of the county jail.
