THE ARRIVAL OF THE PRESIDENT

The President elect of the United States arrived in Washington city on the 13th inst. He was received with great enthusiasm by the great mass of the people—the democratic associations directing the ceremonies.

Throughout his whole progress from his home in Tennessee, the President has everywhere been cheered by the popular acclamation. Bright skies have welcomed him to the capital of the Union, auspicious of a happier destiny than that foreboded by the gloom and storm which attended the advent of his venerable predecessor in this city—an omen of the misfortunes of the administration which he introduced.—Globe.
