Effective Saturday. Mr. Harry J. Doty, agent of the Norfolk & Western railway in this city will succeed C. H. Brown as general agent of that railroad at Columbus, Ohio. Mr. Brown, who was transferred to Columbus from Ironton in 1912. becomes Superintendent of Agents with office at Roanoke. Va.
W. L. Clardy. agent of Kenova becomes general agent in this city, and will take charge Saturday. Mr. Doty's promotion comes as a reward for his splendid record in this city. Columbus being the next promotion above Ironton, both Messrs C. H. Brown and G. C. Vanzant who preceded Mr. Doty here, having been transferred to Columbus.
The many friends of Mr. and Mrs. Harry J. Doty will regret their leaving this city. but join with The News in extending congratulations upon the splendid promotion. Mr. Doty came to Ironton in December 1912. and since has taken a leading part in the civic welfare of the city. He is past president of the Ironton Rotary Club and also past Exalter Ruler of Ironton Lodge No. 177. B.P.O. Elks.
He is an.active worker in the Chamber of Commerce, serving on several committees in the past. Mr. Doty is a director in the Ironton News company.
