KINGSTON, (Jamaica) April 27.

A remarkable phenomenon has for several evenings past been observed in the Western Hemisphere by many persons taken for a Fire-Balloon, sent up at a considerable distance from this town; whilst others pronounce it to be of the meteor kind; its first appearance is like a fixed star elevated about 25 degrees, but of much greater magnitude, seeming to be nearly equal to one eighth the diameter of the moon; it continues gradually ascending and descending, in a perpendicular line of 8 or 10 degrees, from about 7 o'clock till between 9 and 10, when it grows paler, till it totally disappears.
