A SLAVE ABDUCTED FROM HER OWNERS.—A female slave, named Maria, owned by Mr. William B. Holmes, of New Orleans, was, on the morning of the 18th, brought to Boston as a fugitive from Plymouth, upon the petition of one N. B. Spooner, charging Mr. Holmes with unlawfully restraining her of her liberty. Maria states that she was born at Savannah, Ga., and was purchased by Mr. Holmes and taken to New Orleans, where, she says, there is much more liberty than in Boston. The case was postponed until the next day,—19th instant—when Mr. and Mrs. Holmes, who were served with a habeas corpus to produce the slave Maria, appeared. There was no appearance against Maria, and she was, therefore, discharged. She will probably return to her master.—Charleston Evening News.
