Terrible Railroad Accident. A terrible

accident occurred on the Chicago and North

western Railroad, on the forenoon of 1st November. A train consisting of thirteen cars,

filled with excursionists from Fond du Lac

for Chicago, ran off the track at Johnson's

Creek, eight miles south of Watertown, Wis.

Eight persons are reported killed, and a

number badly injured. The names of the

killed, so far as known, are: M. J. Thomas,

U. S. Marshal: Mr. Boardman. and Geo. F

Emerson. Those badly injured are: A. D.

Bonestell, Indian Agent; T. L. Gillett, Judge

Flint. Mrs. Redford, and Van Buren Smead

—all of Fond du Lac.

Later.—In addition to those previously

reported as killed are the following: Jerome

Mason, telegraph operator; T. L. Gillett and

J. Snow, of Fond du Lac: John Lund and C.

Petersilia Sherwood, of Oshkosh; Dr. Tilli-

ner, of Watertown. The injured are E. K.

Sykes, both legs off; Mrs. L. Ellis, leg

broken; Mrs. Baldwin, of Oshkosh, both

legs broken: Van Buren Smead, editor of the

Fond du Lac Press, skull fractured, and is

not expected to recover. The accident was

caused by the train running over an ox.—
