On the 30th of April, at Frostburg, Alleghany County, Maryland, four horses were stolen from Messrs. Andrew Smeltz, Robt. M. Wilderman and Moses Jones. They started in pursuit of the thieves, and, after following through many counties in West Virginia, overtook them in Staunton on Saturday last-the thieves having arrived here on Friday and the pursuers on Saturday. The thieves were arrested by Sergeant J. T. Parent, and committed to Jail by Mayor N. K. Trout to await a requisition from the Governor of Maryland. They had sold two horses, and a portion of the money ($85.) was found in the hat of one of them.
The names of the thieves are Richard alias David A. Watson alias Jno. F. Gray and Lewis Claus alias Charles Thomas. They formerly lived in Charlottesville.
