MIGHTY WAR MANEUVERS ON IN PUGET SOUND REGION

YELM, WASH., Aug. 23—In war games ending this week with a Blue attempt to storm the Nisqually under Red forces, 41,000 western national guards and regulars engaged in a sham battle between the Deschutes and Nisqually rivers, moving toward climax tests in the greatest peace time maneuvers ever held in this country. As the Blues pushed forward, the Reds put eight heavy bombers and 71 other planes in the air in an attempt to stop tanks, trucks and Blitzkrieg-type armored cars. The infantry is armed with Garand rifles. Actual casualties were two killed in highway accidents.
