At the commencement of the campaign the N. Y. Herald claimed a majority of the Democratic Press for
Breckinridge. It now concedes it to
Douglas as will be seen by the following
from that paper:
"The democratic journals throughout the country are divided in their
preferences on the Presidential candidates as follows:--
