The affairs of Spain proceed with undeviating calmness and uniformity, in the manner that characterized the dawning of the revolution. The King and Royal Family by their affability and condescension, are rendering themselves popular. His counsellors and most of the persons in high trust, are of the liberal party. The national concord is so perfect, that it forms a phenomenon in history. As the constitution recognizes no grandeur nor nobility, how has it happened, that they have made no struggle? The former government was prostrated, as we have been led to believe, chiefly on account of the undue ascendancy of the Ecclesiastics; it is therefore wonderful, that we have not witnessed, except in one petty instance, any attempt of theirs to produce an excitement, tending to a counter-revolution.
