Full Text
During the storm on Wednesday evening last, the Presbyterian Church in this borough was struck by lightning, and slightly injured. To the circumstance of a conductor being attached to the edifice, it is probable its preservation from destruction is attributable. The cotton factory of Mr. B. M'Credy, we learn, was also struck on the same evening, but the electric fluid was happily carried off by the conductors, without doing injury to the building. The utility of lightning rods, has, in these instances, been strikingly illustrated, and we think that no owner of property should delay of availing himself of a security for his buildings so effective, and so cheaply purchased.
