FINALS AT WINTHROP

Commencement Exercises During Next Week.

MANY CANDIDATES FOR DEGREES

Usual Interesting Exercises Open to Friends, Patrons and the General Public--Many to Finish.

Winthrop College will hold its commencement exercises on Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, June 1, 2 and 3, respectively, beginning with a sermon before the Young Women's Christian Association which will be preached by the Rev. Walter L. Lingle, D. D., of Richmond, Va.

Sunday evening the baccalaureate sermon will be preached by the Rev. N. Ashby Jones, D. D., pastor of the Ponce de Leon Baptist church, Atlanta, Ga.

Visitors and friends of the college will make the annual round of the campus, in which places of interest will be visited on Monday, June 2, and at 6 o'clock in the evening the annual class day exercises will be held, after which the literary societies will hold a joint celebration.

Beginning with an alumnae breakfast in Johnson hall at 9 o'clock the program for Tuesday includes the daisy chain procession in the evening and the graduating exercises at 8 o'clock. Governor Thomas G. McLeod will deliver the baccalaureate address.

The governor, who was for a number of years a member of the board of trustees of the college, is now by virtue of his office an ex-officio member of the board.

A total of 275 candidates for degrees are included in the class, 3 for the master's degree, 173 for the bachelor's degree and 99 candidates for certificates for completion of the two year shorter education or business administration courses.
