PACHO-BLACK TO FIGHT FOR BELT IN LOCAL ARENA

The battle for which every boxing fan in Imperial Valley has waited for months, and which many who are away on vacation are going to be sorry to miss, is scheduled Friday night at the Imperial Valley Athletic club when Bobby Pacho and Jimmy Black meet in the 10 round main event for the featherweight championship of Southern California and Arizona.

There's a fight mates that should be a fight.

The winner will receive a handsome belt offered by the local club when the elimination tournament was started several months ago.

Black and Pacho have fought their way through a bunch of tough contenders and none will question their right to enter the final contest.

During the course of his 45 bouts since starting in the game, Pacho has knocked out Johnny Torres, Bobby Paine, Art Dumivan, Red Stevens, Frankie Boldt, Louis Ramos and 20 others and holds decisions over Santiago Zorilla, California Joe Lynch, Battling Siki, Trench King, Huerta Evans, Red Humphries and Kid Avalino. He has only lost three decisions in all his fights.

Black's record shows wins over Young Nationalista, Ray Montova, Syd Torres, Jackie Spencer, Chickie Herman, Clayton Gold, Jimmy Alvarado, Bennie Carter and Young David and draws with Goldie Hess and Johnnie De Lano. The latter is the boy who received an unpopular decision over Pacho at the Olympic club recently.

Black is considered one of the cleverest little fellows in the west. The colored boy has everything needed to make a good fighter: speed, skill and gameness.

Pacho, not so well known outside Imperial Valley as his opponent is, has shown fans enough in the past year or more to convince them that he is a real scrapper. His punch is deadly and in his own back yard he is nearly invincible.

For the semi-final, Deacon Brooks and Andy Armstrong, cousins whom the fans have wanted to see get together for the past two years will go 10 rounds or less. There isn't exactly any enmity between them but each feels that he can lick the other and that is good enough to steam up plenty of fight.
