With a present population of 52,799,000, the debt per capita is $31.72, and the per capita interest is $1.09. The cash in the treasury now amounts to $243,289,519.78, and the total decrease of debt exclusive of this cash is $926,336,632.53.
Counting the cash on hand which can be used at any time the reduction in seventeen years is considerably over one billion dollars.
