Full Text

We have no Accounts from the Havannah of later Date than those which have been already published: 'Tis said our Forces had possession of all the Neck of Land to the Westward of the Entrance of the Harbour (except the Puntal, some Batteries along the shore, and a Castle call'd the Governor's, lately built upon a Hill which commands the Town and other Forts, and mounting three Tier of cannon) and also of the River Lagune, where from the besieged were usually supplied with Water thro' Pipes; and that the Spanish Governor had sent a Flag of Truce with a Message to Lord Albemarle, exclaiming against the Measures of cutting off the Water from the Inhabitants, as contrary to the Rules of War among civilized Nations: That the Spaniards were said to have 1870 Pieces of Cannon at the Havannah, mostly on the Forts and Batteries which face the Entrance of the Harbour: That the Men of War sunk at the Mouth of the Harbour, were buoyed up so that their upper Decks appeared above Water: That Admiral Pocock's Squadron lay at Anchor all along the Shore both to Leeward and Windward of the Harbour, just out of Gun-shot, with Winter Top masts up and no Top-gallant-masts: And we make no Doubt that by the first Vessels from thence we shall have Advice of that Place being in the Possession of the English.

We hear from Newport that last Friday a Vessel arrived there from Philadelphia, who on her Passage spoke with a Vessel from New Providence, that informed them that Morro Castle at the Havannah was in the Hands of the English.
