Mr. John Anderson of the Nome-Montauit dredge on Shovel creek, who is stopping at the Golden Gate hotel has brought some interesting news from Solomon. He says that all of the dredges there have shut down for the winter with the exception of the Seward dredge on Solomon river. This dredge expects to continue operations until about the first of December unless the ice prevents. It has had a good season and is still doing well.
This has been a quiet season around Solomon and, as seems the case everywhere else, there has been a shortage of water but on the whole they have done fairly well.
Mr. Shuunghnessy is now rebuilding his store which was washed away by the recent storm and has a new stock in ready for the winter's business.
Mr. Henry proposes to move his roadhouse and saloon to Dickson where he will build and open Mr. Stickermeyer and Mrs. McLean will continue to conduct their hotel at Dickson this winter.
During the past season one dredge was built on Goose creek but owing to the prevailing lack of water it could not be run.
Mr. Anderson is of the opinion that if there is plenty of water next year that Solomon and the adjacent country will have a prosperous season.
A good many Solomonites expect to go out on the next boat and are depending on the Flyer making her regular trips in order that they may reach Nome as travel by the roads at present is not satisfactory.
