Hampton, Va., Nov. 11 - James W. Bryant, Hampton Institute business manager, has been elected a member of the Dixie Hospital board of trustees for a term of three years. Members of the board are elected by the Dixie Hospital Association made up of representatives of about 35 area civic organizations and approved by the board of trustees.
A 1933 graduate of Tuskegee Institute, Bryant studied machine accounting at New York City's International Business Machines school, in 1949, and received the master's degree in business administration, in 1951, from the Wharton School of Commerce, University of Pennsylvania.

Tuskegee in 1938, Bryant became chief accountant at J. C. Smith University, Charlotte, N. C., in 1941. A director of Booker T. Washington Business College in 1942-43, he served two years as business manager, Florida Normal College, St. Augustine, Florida.
Bryant returned to Tuskegee in 1945 serving for eight years as, successively, cashier, chief accountant and resident auditor. Following two years as business manager at Texas College, Tyler, Texas, he came to Hampton Institute in 1956 as consultant to the United Negro College Fund and assistant business manager.
A member of the Peninsula United Fund budget panel for the past three years, Bryant is a member of the Board of Directors, Peoples Building and Loan Company and a member of the Board of Directors and secretary-treasurer of Granger Courts, Inc.
He is also a member of the editorial advisory board of College and University Business Magazine, the National Federation of College Business Officers and the American Association of College Business Officers.
