NOTE: Carl L. Huth just received a letter from S. H. DePew, as follows:
1347 E. Monterosa Ave.,
Phoenix, Arizona,
Jan. 18, 1947.
Friend Carl:
Thanks for your recent good note, and I enclose herewith check for the renewal of our subscriptions; cannot do without the news from home in the Theocrat and the good messages from the Leaves of Healing.
We note each day the temperature at "home" and while we are having a "severe 29 winter here. it is a great contrast to what you suffer back there.
We see snow only on the distant and higher mountain ranges.
We are very busy on our new church building and are beginning to make quite a showing. Will send you pictures shortly. It is a great pleasure to me to be able to have a hand in the work. It has been a great sight to view the scene from the top of the steeple which we have just this week completed -the ring of mountains, some as close as a mile. The immediate range forms a horseshoe from the southeast to the west, the details of which can be easily made out, and then, to the south over the city and across the valley, lies the great South Mountain Range.
There is considerable interest in the vicinity as to what the new structure is and what it represents. Many express interest and await its dedication. Incidentally this week we decided on a name for the structure "Zion Mountain View Chapel," (a branch of the Christian Catholic Church, headquarters - Zion, Illinois) Protestant.
We expect to erect a rustic announcement board, similar in appearance to that which is used in this country marking national forests and foundations, with the above on it.
The sun shines here every day and we are making good progress with the work. Elder Barton is a busy man.
With kindest regards to all in the homeland,
Sincerely,
S. H. DePew
