Full Text

Philadelphia, May 28.-The address yesterday delivered by Robert G. Harper, Esq. in the Presbyterian Church in Washington Square, recommendatory of the design and explanatory of the prospects of the American Colonization Society, was at once able, elegant, and persuasive. A very numerous and highly intelligent auditory listened with entire gratification during nearly three hours, while calm and powerful appeals were made to their patriotism, their benevolence, and their piety! - We sincerely wish success to an institution founded on the most enlarged principles of philanthropy, and which, if successful, must, ultimately, relieve the United States from a source of incalculable danger, of gradual depreciation of character and of comparative national poverty. In this result, we are all deeply interested, without distinction of parties.
