Triple Fatality To Go To Jury

Assistant Coroner Edgar Black announced today that he is turning over to the grand jury the case in which three persons were killed Wednesday night, March 26th.

A coroner's inquest had been scheduled for Friday but was postponed when witnesses could not appear. Since the grand jury meets tomorrow, Mr. Black said he felt the matter could be handled by the grand jury without the necessity for an inquest.

Killed in the triple fatality were: Sam Ragan, 35, of Willow Springs, Betty Jean Blalock, 16, and Edna Morris, 17, both of Willow Springs.

Injured in the accident were Julian Hart of Angier, Route 2 and Sherill Lee Moore of Willow Springs. The inquest had been delayed pending recovery of Hart and Moore.

Assistant Coroner Black said today that exact details of how the accident occurred still have not been disclosed. Officers found things in a state of confusion when they arrived on the scene.
