The Siamese Twins in Trouble,
Salem's, Tuesday, Sept. 4.
Mr. Editor—I arrived in town from Boston this morning, and have a good joke to tell you that occurred in Salem on Saturday. One of the Siamese brothers, Mr. Cheng, had a warrant issued against him for an assault on a Mr. John G. Stebbins. Mr. Eng (which I believe is his brother's name) refused to accompany the constable who had the warrant, and threatened a suit for false arrest if compelled to go. The officer was nonplussed, and returned his warrant. The justice knew not what to do, and at last, on advice, was about to consult one of the county judges. The assault complained of was, a few stripes with a cowskin, for an alleged insult by Mr. Stebbins.
