Full Text
It is strange, a correspondent observes, that the rage for commemorating the birth of an insular king should waft itself across the Atlantic.—But, his surprise was increased on being informed, that several of the professed citizens of a FREE STATE, conveyed themselves across a certain river to an adjacent isle, and joined in celebrating an æra on which 'a king of isles' first drew the vital breath. Perhaps, these virtuous citizens conceived, that the Continent, or a populous City, was an improper place to testify their regard for him whose domains are circumscribed by those of Neptune; and therefore repaired to an island, that they might with propriety and safety breathe forth their loyal sentiments at the convivial board, in grateful remembrance of their quondam sovereign!!!
